He was 68. The cause of death was not immediately known, but various health problems had limited Caray to calling only Braves home games this season. ‘We’ve all lost a very good friend,’ Braves manager Bobby Cox said. ‘For me, he was a good buddy ? at the park and away from the park. We always had a lot of great laughs. He will be very sorely missed.’”

Construction should begin next year. ‘The youths of that community have experienced absolute horrors,’ said Nash, the 2005 and 2006 MVP in the National Basketball Association, speaking outside a basketball camp in Victoria. ‘We want to create a centre to give these youths the opportunity we’re afforded.’”

To a Chinese society that has been slowly unfolding and revealing itself like a lotus blossom for nearly four decades, these Games are the long-awaited throwing open of the doors and letting the world into a firecracker explosion of 21st century progress. Since Beijing was awarded the Olympics in 2001, the Chinese have spent seven years preparing to show off their culture, their modern infrastructure and their sports stars. ?This is about different cultures, different backgrounds and bringing all people different ways of thinking about things,’ Yao Ming said.?

While posing as the Man of Steel while winning last winter’s slam dunk contest at the NBA All-Star Game may have provided the Orlando Magic star his first real taste of national exposure, Howard was already something of a household name in cities such as Manila and Hong Kong.”

It was the third straight win for the USA Team, and the second in as many nights of action in the USA Basketball International Challenge.
